my ears are hurting

aah, I don't know from what frequencies but I'm wearing headphones so, maybe that's the problem. Though I think you've put some neat effects in it... But I'll not listen to this personally, because it just doesn't tell a story...

Though it's great for some submissions, or background (atmosphere) in some kind of science fiction movie...

Mich responds:

Yeah, someone else told me he got a headache from it... sorry about that... =S
And yeah, I'm not sure if you can call it music, but it might be useful indeed.

It's a different form of art I guess :p

Thanks for the votes ^_^

lol

lol, it's happy indeed. Sounds like a child's fantasy. haha. Not really my taste but that's on purpose I guess...

Haha hey Mjattie... thanks for the review. And yes.... its my fantasy finally come to life. I've been listening to this for 2 days straight now.

nice man

The good:
The piano is awesome! Very good. I love it. It has much variation and has a nice sound. I guess you're using reason? The piano sounds very familiar and the drums also. The drums are awesome btw :P Good job on those.

Some tips:

Put some reverb to the piano and drums, they sound a bit empty or something... You also could consider adding another instrument. Like a cello or strings. (if you're using reason take the beautiful violin section in nn-xt.) Another tip is to put some tape distortion on the drums. They sound a bit more real.

Overall great job, those tips aren't really necessary, just for making it even better.

ObsidianSnow responds:

Yes, I'm using reason. The patches are ones that come with the program - the drums you can find in the redrum drum kits and they're the only kit under the "tight" category. The piano was the "Bright Piano" patch.

lol there's already reverb on both, as well as a delay line on each for more of an echo... but I guess if it's not being heard I might have to turn up the reverb a bit. XP

But tape distortion? I don't believe I've ever experimented with that, so I'm not sure what it does... I'll take a look, you're probably right about that.

lol had to laugh when you mentioned the "beautiful violin section in nn-xt". I don't think that the patch you're thinking of came with my version of reason, because none of the defaults I have sound anything like strings at all. XD luckily, I managed to get a mind-blowing refill for the string patches, so I do have some epic strings I could use.
Not sure if I can fit them in anywhere, so they might just end up being one of those background instruments that nobody ever hears but everyone listens to subconsciously (not sure if you're aware of those, but if your music is telling me anything, I'd say you probably are... If you don't know what I'm talking about, PM me, I'll explain it - it's really useful to know).

Thanks for the review, Mjattie. Seriously, you give some of the most useful reviews ever!

starts right away swingy :)

I love your drums. (what program do you use?) And your effects! Marvellous. But melody is not catchy and a bit ugly. And the arp sounds nice but also has a bit strange melody...

I feel sorry for the awesome drums and effects, but this deserves 9/10, 4/5

Mjattie

Airprogressive responds:

Yeah, maybe the melody sounds a bit strange, but I like that XD

I use FL studio 8 xxl. I have VEC 1,2,3 and also VEH 1,2

thanks 4 your review!

yea

ending melody is awesome! Great effects and great melodies. Great synths too.(especially because you made them!!!)

5/5, 10/10 and a download

Gr. Mjattie

yea great remix :P

But the drums are Microsoft MIDI, that's soooo ugly ;) The synth is great though.

Alexman159 responds:

I use that synth alot. It's very versatile, from sounding like a generic synth to electric guitar.

using reason?

I could be wrong but the piano sounds a bit from reason piano's, and the crashes definitely sound like reason ;P And the scratching also :P Still awesome job!!! We should do a collab if you use reason :P

5/5, 10/10 I downloaded this one too

Mjattie

KgZ responds:

Haha you caught me red handed, thanks for listening :D

I'm down for a collab, just hit me on in a PM or whatever.

lol

fucking awesome. You've got a download from me ;)

awesome

It's very weird indeed, but it's awesome. Quite good for a boss level or something in a game. The flutes are quite spastic :P But the sound cool. Only the flutes and drums and piano sound a bit dry. Try working with some more reverb: put it under the mixpanel and the turn aux 1 a bit up.

Nonetheless good job!

ObsidianSnow responds:

lol "Quite good for a boss level or something in a game"? Epic. That's actually where the name came from - I want to use it in my RPG for when you take on a foe who is WAY beyond your skill level, or you do something dumb like decide you want to do the final boss fight when you're still using a toothpick for a weapon.

As for the 'verb... thanks. I was thinking about that just the other day, and you're definitely right. I gave it a shot about 20 minutes ago, before coming back here to respond... It's going to take some tweaking - the reverb seems to be overly sensitive on this one.

Not sure what you mean by the mixpanel, I'll take another look. It might not be in my version of Reason (2.5 lol) but I will certainly give that a shot.

Thanks for the awesome review, Mjattie!

Good chord progression. I think it's more trance than dance. Quite good synths. Quite good drums, good melodies. Nice effects... but it misses something like wyldfyre said.

...Ah that's what it is: IT NEEDS SOME BASS. it misses some tones in the lower frequencies.

Not much else to say I guess, but you get a 9/10 and a 5/5

Mjattie

Shinrog responds:

The bass is pitched up, though I am trying to get something done with the lower frequencies, but I doubt I will actually change this part nor it will stand out too much.
As for the genre, I think that this is more closel to be Eurodance, which I believe is more dance-ish than trance.
