yea

this is just perfect! You did a really good job with all the instruments, everything's right and nothing is wrong... The drums are nice too... Lol, I can keep saying it's awesome, or quite saying and just listen to this wonderful song...

nice

I really like the drums and bass, but don't really like the strange middle part (1:45-2:13) Also a bit long endin. Did you forget to move the END locator? :P I'm guessing you're using reason :P

nevertheless, a nice song,

yea

I just immediately recognize the glitch kit and pad :D Woah 0:55 is nice! I think the bass and pads are a bit soft, compared to the drums. It's hard to find a melody/chord scheme in the guitar parts, the first time you listen. But the guitar sounds really awesome and wow, what am I blowed away of the superb outro! Wow, that's really pro. Guitar itself is nice, but better would be (off course) a real guitar player :D

You seem to improve a lot and get a bit in the 12 tonal music xD Nah not really, but you're being original and not everyone is fond of that, but you have my vote. I only would suggest (melodically) to make the guitar and drum parts a bit more recognizable.

ObsidianSnow responds:

I agree, it would be nice to have a real guitar player record this, I'm sure it would sound a lot better XD and yes, I was experimenting a bit with some abstract chord structures and progressions, so things sound kind of weird if you don't already have some idea of where it's going. (btw, the guitar patch was "hell spawn guitar" - I tweaked it a little, but it does have a lot more character than a lot of the other patches. I would have liked to reduce the "heaviness" of it a little though... I just had a hard time with that)

^^ Yes, I love the outro, too. I had a lot of fun with that.

hehe, this was a big experiment in a lot of different directions for me - for one, I was using a glitch kit for the first time. I thought it didn't turn out too badly... I'm just looking forward to next year, when I will finally have the equipment and the people around me to do live recordings of almost everything! Not only that, I can legitimately claim that it's school work, and get time specifically for that at school. It'll be the dawn of a new age for me, I think. =D Bmus FTW (yes, I auditioned for UC's Bmus, and was accepted)

Your suggestions are totally on the mark, too. Thanks for pointing those things out... I'll keep it in mind for the future for sure.

Thanks a ton for yet another review, MWA (I'll return the favour asap - you know how long my reviews are ;P )

yea landing on the moon

Really sounds like you're landing on some far-away barren planet (like moon :P) I enjoyed it and downloaded it. I love the reversed drums, really support the alien sound.

p.s. check out my latest glitchy song if you want :) http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/324082

what... not signed?

The drums immediately got my attention. I recognize the bass. :P Although the intro is long, it's not boring because of all the effects you've put in it. Like the brake: Nice, mellow and fast. Really pro and original sounding, not like some of your other works, no THIS IS VERY COOL, like pyramid, but then better!!! I just love everything here man!

:::)

Again really nice. I might recognize some reason presets/samples, tell me if I'm wrong or not. ;) And again love the bass and effects and drums. Really pro everything. Like the melodies, etc. etc.

omg this is nice

How do you do that? :P Nah I can Imagine how: unbelievably much automations and samples xD It's not a strange fact you've got a record signed.

I really love the bass and vocals, though they may be a bit overpowering (compared to the snare and kick)

The song itself keeps your attention, because you've got a lot of different things going on on different times... So I have not choice but to:

Scream 4?? :D

Quite nice song. Melody isn't super and chords are a bit distord at times (esspecially the strings), but!! I really like the bass and the drums are quite nice, but could use some (more) delay and reverb or scream 4 tape distortion.

It sounds like you used quite a lot scream 4 devices, to create the main synth and bass and maybe some other instruments. (not sure though)

It's nice to hear you expermimenting with reason and trying something original instead of crappy techno :P

Mich responds:

The funny part is that I reduced the delay and reverb a bit from the first version. ...And reduced the scream influence a bit too.

I wasn't awfully inspired for the melody, I even thinks it gets quite repitive after a while.

I'm glad you like my experimentations, but please, don't generalize all 4/4 kick on beat genres to techno, I'm sort of allergic to that.

Thanks for the review! :)

very progressive shit

You're going for the progressive feeling here. It's really nice. I love the pads. Main synth is OK. Lol those breakbeat drums are very nice but sound quite like the original. What a long break you've got here. Wow. :P The song itself is not too original, but it's nice the way it is.

woah!!!!!!

While listening, this is what I was thinking:

0:00-0:36 ah, not too bad intro
0:36-0:37 trance?
0:37-0:38 glitch?!
0:38-0:57 OMG GLITCH STYLE, THIS IS AWESOME OMG OMG!!! Really nice!
0:57-1:16 LOVE THE GUITAR
1:17-1:55 wonderful piano!
1:56-2:33 yea, I love the sidechained kick! Gives a strong feeling.
2:34-end nice ending!

Overall: I'd put it in ambient. I really love the ambient ambience. Flutes are also nice and just the overal production is just much better than what you've ever made before! You get the full package from me:
