this song can be perfect

It would be actually if you'd have a singing woman/girl that would sing a couple of sentences with a lot of breathing XD. Then I'd say you EQ the girl with a lot of high frequencies so that all the s- and f-voices sound very clear. Then add a lot of slow delay (like 8 16th notes) and a lot of reverb and add this at 3:02 (because it sounds a bit empty there) and maybe somewhere at the end.

Still marvellous song you've got here :) I"m actually a bit jealous how you get those nice stabby chords in reason, I tried but failed... You created it by yourself, edited a preset or downloaded a pack or used a preset of reason?

5/5, 10/10, favourite and download

BrokenCrossfader responds:

Ha I would add singing if i actually had a good singer, which I don't at the moment.

Also, all of the instrument patches were created from scratch (I don't like using presets, it takes away the fun of actually making a song). It took a lot of experimenting and tweeking to get the sounds just right (Thanks to the mighty THOR).

Glad you enjoyed the track!

nice

Good work. I love the pads! Great structure and nice percussion. The kick needs some work though... I think it's too dirty for this kind of electronica. You could also use some sidechain or sequence the level of the pad to make it a bit more dancy at the part where there are drums. (not necessary, it's just a thing that I'd do)

Overal great job, 5/5, 9/10, it's slightly on the repetitive side.

nightsurfermusic responds:

Hmm, i think i'll try some side chaining. Thanks man!

very nice

Very nice guitar skills. Maybe you could make the sound of the guitar a bit fuller (ad some mid tones (equalizing))

Other than that, awesome!

5/5, 9/10

Spykles responds:

Hey, thanks alot. Guitar sound with line-in is not something I've perfected and will definately consider the mid-range more in future.

Thanks again :)

sorry I forgot to review so here is a review

You've used a MIDI piano, not really nice sound... But you arranged it well! I like the original song and this one is also nice. I give you -2 because it sounds mechanical and second because the piano sounds ugly...

Other than that, good job, 4/5, 8/10

thanks

lovely rhodes?

I love the electric piano you've added in there. Tell me what software do you use? May I guess "reason" ? I'm not sure though... Really nice drums you've got there and I loved it in boxmen. It added a really nice atmosphere. You played this yourself? Then you're pretty good XD And if you're using reason 4, maybe a collab would work out with us :) (check my music if you want ;))

Overall: you get the full pocket of me; 5/5, 10/10, download, favourite.

Thanks for the review!

lovely drums

great drums but the bass is barely hearable and the pad/synth that drops in at 1:28 is a bit too loud.

Great work though, 5/5, 9/10

sonicxtreme responds:

thanks man

at the beginning I thought: DOWNLOAD

but the song didn't really progress to anything and I didn't really like some parts.

The good:
Nice bells and synths, violins and clarinet(?).

Advice:
I'd put some (more) reverb on the pluck at 1:03. The piano is strange and I don't really like it, it also misses expression (adjust veolicity) and most of the notes sound a bit off. the phasing instrument what comes between the pluck is not really my taste also. I think it's the melody it's playing. Also the lenght is a bit useless because it sounds like you've copied the first 2,5 minutes and then paste them after that. And the ending is a bit lazy, a fade out.

overall: this'd really work in a flash game. Not the best piece I've heard, but it has potentional.

5/5, 8/10

Taketheleap responds:

Very in depth, Thanks a lot. Yeah there were a couple of sounds I was unsure of, but i think in this track that's kinda what I liked, almost like it sounded warped to me.

I love the ocean sound

The story this song tells goes to the bottom of the see and back to land. (or something. Really the melodies are just awesome! I only think that the start is a bit too slow.

Nice, but would maybe be better if you'd played it yourself (I know you can't because you don't have a (midi)keyboard) but that would make it a bit less "spastic at points.

Maybe a tip: at 3:18, the piano does not play a real melody. Maybe you could give the quarter notes an accent, to make it easier to listen to (but that's my opinion)

Overall, a wonderful job, you're growing song by song, I'm amazed but you could try a bit with my advice if you want.
