nice progression of chords and song

But the snare is very loud and so are the hi-hats. And the drums are quite plain and standard. Bass sounds also quite standard and sometimes the melodies collide.

Nonetheless, it's a good song.

I'd correct those things, and then you'll get my 10/10 and 5/5 ;)

MW-Audio (mjattie)

yea

mixing needs work... Drums are overpowering, but not very loud so need to be equalized and other things need to be put down

It's not bad at all, just work on the mixing ;)

YES

Finally some real competition XD Not FL-sounding (like almost all submissions sound for the EP) great melody. Lovely progressive sounding and the drums do the job.

Though I have one suggestion. The chords change now every 2 bars, but I'd like it more if they would change 2x as fast. (it's your song though ;))

5/5, 10/10, but no favourite and download since it's an demo of under 1 minute.

p.s. check out my submission for this EP if you want :) (-->Don't Forget)

gregaaron89 responds:

Thanks for the review, mjattie. It doesn't sound like FL because I'm not using FL, so that might help :P (jokes aside, I like to make all my own synths from scratch) I totally disagree with you about the chord changes, but that's just a matter of personal opinion I guess. Well the main reason I think they need to be that way is to match up with the 2 bar counter melody (that fades in near the end) And I think it's totally more progressive and trancy to have longer, drawn out chord progressions. It might help if the bass pattern was more interesting though. I'll check out your submission now.

woow

This really is some neat stuff! The piano part is just sooo epic man! Love what you did there. And then the awesome violins... I haven't heard anything like this before... (well the violins sound a bit like: "Let the game begin" of Tiësto's cd In search of sunrise 5 cd 1 XD, but then more epic... Wow

Not much else to say, I guess...

glad you enjoyed it! i guess i'm doing something right ;)

wow!

This sounds really very smooth my fellow reasoner! The progression is just marvelous and all the different melodies keep following eachother and really sound at the right place.

I think that this song is hard to put in other genres than: classical, ambient, miscellaneous and maybe trance, so if people (maybe me) are going to make a cover of this song I'll expect that it'll be in those genres (though I'd like to hear some surprises ;))

Well, you did an awesome job with this one and I might cover this one. Not sure what I'm going to do with it then ;)

5/5, 10/10, favourite and download, off course!

I love the cold feeling in this song. But on the other hand it sounds warm and comfortable... That's really nice and when a song reaches that feeling, I download and favourite it ;)

I have a suggestion ;) If I was you, I would add some glitchy drums to it (though they are very hard to make). If you don't know what I mean, listen to Bryan Transeau (BT). He's really in my opinion the best ambient artist in the world!

Though you could also ignore this suggestion and keep it smooth and quiet. (I'll also like that very much)

ObsidianSnow responds:

Glitchy drums... hmmm... oddly, I think I could see that working, potentially. Maybe I'll give that a shot.

I think this is probably the best mastering job I've done yet. I was playing with a bunch of settings I'd never touched before... and it really worked out for me.

I'm really happy you enjoyed it so much.

Thanks for the review, MW-A!

epic it sounds for sure

That guitar sounds nice! Not really very realistic but very cool! I really can hear a lot of expression in it. This song really is great for an epic battle or something! Nice drums too! Hihats and snare sound a bit plain but do the trick.

The accelerando didn´t really work for me, I didn´t really think it added anything special to it...

Great job though! 5/5, 10/10

ObsidianSnow responds:

I was a little angry with the guitar, because it was really hard to find a good patch for an electric guitar. In the end I just took an acoustic guitar patch and ran it through a bunch of distortion... I think it had an interesting effect in the end, though.

I agree that the hihat and snare were a bit bland, but honestly I don't think there was much else I could have done with them. But you're right, I think they ultimately do their job.

XD if only I could have found a better way to come out of the accelerando... If this had been a song and not a loop, I would have kept the higher tempo through to the end, but I couldn't do that if I wanted it to loop. Hence the slowing back down, which is where I think it lost some of its effect. Nonetheless, I personally think that it's going to add a lot to the gaming experience: the subconscious effects it'll have on the gamer will be worth it, I think.

Thanks for your review, Mjattie (MWA?). It's always appreciated.

ahh

I can't sit still, when I listen to this song, I think that your melodies really are improving a lot. Actually, if this melody was played by a glockenspiel with a lower tempo, it could be a bedtime song or something XD, but I guess that's with most of the rave music. Quite good quality, not very original I have to say, but nice the way it is.

Airprogressive responds:

XDXD The best of this track is not the originality. The melodies were invented by me, but the structure of the song is the tipical one of this type of songs (drums are also very simple) The best is the melody I think

Thank you Mjattie I'm glad you liked it!!

let's say, DANCE!

The intro just totally catches my attention right away, good job with that! This time I like the melodies you've put in more then usual! Quite catchy and man, this sounds professional! You've put some really nice percussion in this one... Well, I have to apologize for the late response, but I've been on holidays, so I haven't checked newgrounds for 2 weeks or something...

Good job, 5/5, 10/10

Airprogressive responds:

thanks Mjattie!

I'm glad you like this one!
